A day-long Baisakhi festival, one of the most important celebrations for the Sikh community, was held on Sunday (April 12) at the Fords Social Club in Newbury Park, East London. People of all ages attended the event, travelling from across London and nearby cities, turning it into a lively gathering.
For Sikhs, Baisakhi is a major religious and cultural festival, usually observed every year on April 13 or 14.
The event was well-organised and welcoming. Guests were greeted with refreshments at the entrance, and lunch vouchers were distributed, allowing visitors to collect meals from designated stalls.
The beautifully showcased Punjabi culture. Through traditional attire, music, and food, the organisers created an atmosphere that brought a slice of Punjab to London. People of all ages took part with great enthusiasm.
Not only members of the Sikh community, but also people from other faiths and backgrounds joined in, reflecting the multicultural spirit of the city and enjoying the unique celebration.
